Experts in electrofishing techniques have asked for a way to standardize the effective output on our generator-based electrofishers and we have responded with our new Power Standardization System (PSS).

The PSS can be equipped to work with any Smith-Root electrofisher and will enable the user to determine peak voltage and peak current – the key pieces of information needed to standardize electrofishing output by power.

The PSS comes with software that is compatible with Windows XP, Vista, or Windows 7 operating systems. Once the software is installed on your laptop computer, the PSS connects to your electrofisher and displays output readings on your computer.

The PSS not only allows for consistency in sampling efforts over time but also serves as a troubleshooting tool for your equipment. Because of these attributes, we recommend a PSS for all Smith-Root generator-powered electrofishers.
