Smith-Root, Inc. Debuts New Product At Aquaculture 2009
The Portable Electroanesthesia System (PES™) offers a safe alternative to chemicals
On February 15th, Smith-Root, Inc. attended Aquaculture America 2009 in Seattle, Washington and announced the The Portable Electroanesthesia System (PES™) to the world.
This conference was attended by approximately 1,600 attendees, along with numerous vendors within the aquaculture industry.
The Portable Electroanesthesia System (PES™) allows for researchers and commercial hatcheries to effectively anesthetize fish using electricity without the withdrawal effects and disposal issues associated with the use of chemicals.
This technique eliminates the product cost of chemical agents and the associated storage fees, as well as addressing concerns with increasing regulations concerning chemical applications to aquatic species.
As stated by Smith-Root, Inc. CEO Jeff Smith: “There is clearly an increased need for technology in this area, with increasing regulations concerning chemical applications to aquatic species.”
The feedback offered from aquaculture 2009 attendees was overwhelmingly positive. Many cited current regulations regarding chemical anesthesia as their primary reason for interest in the PES™ system.
For over forty years, aquatic researchers, fish conservation agencies and the fisheries industry have relied on Smith-Root, Inc. for high-technology products and services.
